Ideas for faith/belief system

So from what I've seen, one of the big complaints about The Universim that I've seen is that it doesn't feel like a proper god game, so I had a few ideas while eating dinner tonight and sitting here typing all this out on how to put the god in god game.

 

First idea: Prophets

What if we could have Nuggets that are our prophets,  informing other Nuggets of our will and helping to generate belief/god power through leading the other nuggets in worship as well as act as the spiritual leader of our Nugget tribe? Perhaps also being able to perform miracles, as our sorta but not really avatar?

 

Second idea: Holy Texts

What if we could have our own holy books that our nuggets read/follow, like a set of divine laws set by us that impact nugget behavior? For instance, say we forbid the eating of meat, nuggets could no longer hunt or eat meat, but would gain bonuses to eating food from farms, or the opposite and they get a bonus to eating meat while not being able to farm anymore, which could also impact Nugget evolution due to the changes in diet.

 

Third idea: Missionaries

So I've heard about exile tribes and how the Nuggets in them don't believe in you, what if we could designate missionaries to attempt to travel to exile camps and try to convert their Nuggets to your faith, thus giving you control of them like regular Nuggets? Of course, there could be a chance that the exiles would be hostile and attempt to kill the missionary, or that the missionary could fail and not convert anyone, perhaps even being converted his/herself?

I definitely like the first idea. Having a profit or "one who hears god" is a cool idea. There could be a new building that they are tied to or the preexisting god-email site could get upgrades. Early game they could be shamans and such and the role could evolve as the Nuggets evolve, influenced by how each player plays god.

 

You second idea is interesting. I think it could fit in well with the archive or the holy-site/god-email site. I think the holy books should be written by Nuggets, as their society grows and researches new things. So maybe not direct  "laws" from god... but the Nuggets' interpretation of what god wants according to what research is done and how the player uses their "god powers", etc.

 

The concept of "missionaries" is interesting. The idea that they might be able to "bring home" exile Nuggets is cool. Sort of a non-violent way of dealing with it, rather than wiping out the exile camps. I was thinking rather than assigning the role of missionary to one or two Nuggets, perhaps certain laborer Nuggets can be gifted with "divine light" or something. A new god-power that lasts for X amount of time and  makes those gifted Nuggets want to find exiles and "save" them from exile.

Thanks, glad you liked the ideas.  Yeah your idea for the second idea could work, my thoughts was it working as a sort of custom set of perks that you can choose which could affect how your nuggets develop as a civlization and a species. Your version of the third idea could work too, and yeah that's kinda what I want as well, a diplomatic way of dealing with exiles. Hoping a dev or someone on the team reads these and gives their thoughts on it.

Also, yes the first idea could be tied with the prayer enclave, or could be a new building like a high temple and both the building and shaman/prophet could change as the game goes on and how you play as you said

Not a designer, but I am a dev and I'll pass these ideas along. There's also a pinned thread by @Sasha specifically for talking with designers about mechanics in the game if you wanted to hop over there and bounce off of some of those ideas as well :)
