Is Anti-Aliasing on by default? If so is there a way to shut it off as well as some of the other advanced video settings (for debugging purposes)?

The launcher fails for me. I'm on elementaryOS, which is based on Ubuntu.

$ uname -a
Linux elfe 3.13.0-85-generic #129-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 17 20:50:15 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I first tried it as a normal user, and then with root rights, both users result in the same error.

It seems to fail to find the libc.

$ sudo ./TheUniversimLauncher

However, the linking seems to properly find it:

I downloaded the launcher a few minutes ago. Untared it and ran the above command.

patch 0.0.8 brings a little (and i mean a little) progress towards the better. it crashes after the avpro cutscene (spinning reel on left). I gather the unity bug has not been fixed. well I am in process of building a new computer (with windows 10 64bit) however this may take awhile as I can only afford a couple parts at a time. maybe by the time I have that up and running I'll bother checking back.

I tried the latest build and it won't run for me again. The bundled launcher gives me this:

Quote

liam@liam-ubuntu:~/Downloads/TheUniversimLauncherLinux$ '/home/liam/Downloads/TheUniversimLauncherLinux/TheUniversimLauncher'

Unhandled Exception:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies.
File name: 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'
[ERROR] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies.
File name: 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'

Trying the unbundled version gives me this:

Quote

liam@liam-ubuntu:~/Downloads/TheUniversimLauncherLinux$ '/home/liam/Downloads/TheUniversimLauncherLinux/TheUniversimLauncher.exe'

Unhandled Exception:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies.
File name: 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'
[ERROR] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies.
File name: 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'

This really needs sorting before the Steam release.

I could fix the bundled version by installing "mono-complete", but that's really not user friendly, at all.

From what I understand, you're not bundling all the mono libs the game actually needs (or it's looking in the wrong places). Making users hunt for the packages is not a good solution and will be especially problematic for a Steam release.

Please test it on Ubuntu, not just Debian with a clean install. Ubuntu is the main distribution and the one Steam supports directly. You can see stats on what distribution people use here: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/users/statistics

So with the steam release they made an experimental version that allows us to get within the game and play!
Enjoy!
Just make sure you opt in on steam for experimental version...
